Are You Going Nowhere?

Have you decided what you want 2022 to look like for you?

If you haven’t, I suggest you read my last newsletter here and act on it. It will be one of the best things you do.

When working with clients, I often ask “What do you want your life to look like?” or “What sort of relationship would you like to have?”

The most common response is “I have no idea”.

The second most common response is “A good one”.

“What does that look?” I ask.

“Not sure”.

This is like saying “I’m going on holidays.”

“Where are you going?”

“Not sure”.

“When are you going?”

“Don’t know”.

If you think like this, where are you going to end up?

Nowhere.

To go on holidays, you have a starting point – where you are now. You have an end point – a specific destination. The third step is deciding how you are going to get there.

Life is the same.

Most people are simply going nowhere because they have no idea what they want to get out of their life.

This actually happened to me when I was 25 years of age. I drove to the coast looking for somewhere to stay for a couple of weeks. I was home in two days! I had no idea what I wanted to do.

Let’s do an exercise.

What area of your life would you like to improve?

As an example, let’s say your relationship with someone.

What would you love this relationship to look like in 12 months time. This is starting with the end in mind. This is deciding on the destination. Get really clear on this. Imagine you are already living this life.

What are the steps you need to take to get this relationship to where you would ideally like it to be? Another way of doing this is to start imagining you are already there and look back and identify the steps you took.

If the goal is important enough, you will find a way to get to where you want to be. You can also use this concept to improve your health, lose weight, get fit, earn good money and buy an investment property.

Start with the end in mind.

You’ve got this.

Let’s make this year the best ever.
